My career in education spans 36 years. In addition to teaching in mainstream, special schools and specialist provision, Post 16 and tutoring pupils out of school, I have led on Curriculum development, Assessment, Literacy, Maths, Early Years and SEND. Additionally, I have held a number of positions in local authorities in an advisory/consultancy capacity, including working for the Department of Education to raise attainment in literacy in secondary schools, and as a Senior Local Government Officer implementing the Children and Families Act reforms.
I bring extensive Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) experience, in both schools and local authority roles, to my position as a Mosaic MAT trustee. I am passionate about improving outcomes for all children and young people.
I have been a school governor for 18 years, in both mainstream and special schools. I chair Wigan Governors’ Forum and represent governors and trustees at the Wigan Council Scrutiny Committee. I am a member of Mosaic Trust’s Safeguarding and Education Improvement Boards.
