In both of my roles within the Trust I am motivated by my desire to secure the best outcomes for our students, not only in respect of their academic achievements, but also in respect of their personal development as mature citizens of this country. I am also keen to ensure that ownership of the Trust remains locally within the communities it serves and therefore seek to ensure that all people appointed to Member or Trustee roles have a foothold in their communities.

I have been heavily involved with the Executive Head in negotiations with the DfE during the formation of the Mosaic Multi-Academy Trust and in the formulation of the structures, policies and procedures that underpin it.

I have been a governor at Standish High School for over 20 years and chair for 12 years and am proud of the improvements that have occurred in student performance during this period. I have acquired a broad knowledge of educational matters through my governance of another secondary school for 9 years, up until 2011, and a primary school since 2012. I am currently Chair of the Schools Forum in Wigan, the collective body of headteachers, governors and unions, that advises the Council on the distribution of national school funding within the borough. I am a National Leader of Governance, appointed in 2012, in which role I can offer support to other schools to review and improve their governance.
